Rachel Lee Rubin on Radio
Did the Renaissance Faire shape the counterculture of the "60s"? And does Well Met: Renaissance Faires and the American Counterculture by Rachel Lee Rubin actually make that claim?
I think that Ms. Rubin is on to something about huge generational values versus mass cultural style. But if the Professor/Author Rubin isn't allow get past mass media's fear of and spin turkey legs, big busted women, and men in tights we'll never hear her story.
So David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash wanted me to marbleize the sails on his boat after seeing my marbled fabrics at he Renaissance Pleasure Faire. The entire Oakland Raider football team came to the Faire and a couple of them, including Dave Dolby played an astonishing backgammon game on my over-sized board. But you really can't say that the Faire shaped popular music or the NFL.
