Pi Day March 14, 2015 (3.14.15) is officially Hand Pi Day.
Hand Pi has secured and is building piday2015.com to coordinate, facilitate, promote, and host activities for Pi Day 2015.
Hand Pi is the symbol for a 'helping hand.'
Its goal is to unleash the power to good through the fusion of Art and Science while having fun.
The original Hand Pi was a logo for the toasted sealed sandwich, called in the plural, Hand Pies.
Hand Pies were sold at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire on the Living History Center site in Novato, California in the early 70s. The original Hand Pi Sandwich, or 'Jaffle' as it is called in other parts of the world, was made on a "Hand Pi Machine", a
device similar to the popular American camping utensil Toas Tite, except for its shape and that the Hand Pi Machine (sandwich maker) toasted the image of a hand on the scallop shaped sealed sandwich. In some ways the grilled Hand Pies looked like two giant red hot hands had clasped your favorite sandwich and squeezed, producing the toasted image on the food of a hand with the sign pi in the palm.
